Farmington Hills Youth Theatre Shows Maturity In Production
"Guys & Dolls" Is A Classic, And The Kids Nail It
Community theater has been a huge local entertainment source over the last few years, with the introduction of the Village Theater in Canton and the Tipping Point Theater in Northville. However, for several years, Farmington Hills' Youth Theatre has been putting on incredible productions. Kids as young as 5 are given the opportunity to learn stagecraft in the program's acting camps and classes.
These young thespians are getting ready to put on a production of "Guys & Dolls", one of the most successful Broadway productions of all time. My first experience with this production was in the film adaption starring Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra. With a Tony award, and over 1,200 performances in its original run, "Guys & Dolls" is an iconic piece of American theater.
The young kids put on performances with a maturity that is well beyond their years, and this production is sure to be no different. One of the nice things about community theaters is that families often participate together. "Guys & Dolls" will feature one actress, Annika Porter, that has been involved for several years. Now a junior at North Farmington High, Annika's siblings and parents are involved with the program as well, making this a family event for the Porters.
The production runs from November 30th-December 3rd at the Costick Center, 28600 W. 11 Mile Rd. Tickets can be purchased HERE or by calling 248-473-1848.
