Bow Wow! New Dog Park Opening In Livoina December 4th!
Be Sure To Take Your Pooch To The New Park!
Bicentennial Park in Livonia is going to the dogs! Well, not entirely, but the much-anticipated dog park will be opening December 4th. This project, first announced a year ago, will be completed at the end of November. Many Livonia residents have expressed interest in the park, which prompted the parks and recreation department to allow for an unusual opening date. Most dog lovers take their dogs out for walks, even in the brisk temperatures this time of year, so it is no surprise that a winter opening won't deter them.
Those expecting a simple open field will be surprised to see some of the features, which include agility stations, water fountains and "dog restrooms" (decommissioned fire hydrants). An actual opening ceremony is planned for the Spring.
Residents are encouraged to purchase their passes between Dec. 4th and the end of January. The yearly passes will be $30 for the first dog registered and $10 for each additional canine, with a maximum of 3 registrations per resident. Residents will be required to re-up every February, residents purchasing their passes between Dec. 4th and the end of January will have access to the park until the end of January 2019. Passes can be purchased at the City Clerk's office at Livonia City Hall. There, the resident can have their address verified, as well as have the city check to see their dog is up to date on vaccinations and licensing.
